Vermont Family Programs aims to provide education, resources, and support through collaboration with federal, state, and local programs to ensure Service Members, families, Veterans, and the community are knowledgeable and resilient while promoting retention and mission readiness.

We are hoping the changes made to the format and layout of our monthly newsletter meet with your approval! Our goal was to make it an easier read, as well as more visually appealing. We have been publishing our monthly newsletter since 2006 and will continue to update and make changes with you, our readers, in mind. Please let us know what you think by accessing our survey at:

This is a very exciting time to be part of the Vermont National Guard because we are now able to offer a 100% tuition entitlement for Vermont National Guard members. This is a wonderful opportunity for our members to achieve their educational goals and aids us in our recruiting and retention efforts. There are so many people who have worked tirelessly to make this benefit a reality, and I hope those that qualify take full advantage of this opportunity. Please take the time to read our Education Offier MAJ Brian Willams’ article on page 8 of the November newsletter, and visit our VTNG website: Resources/Education-Office/ to learn more.

Last, but certainly not least, with the hectic holiday season upon us, I hope you can take the time to spend with your families and friends. Happy Thanksgiving from our Family Programs family to yours.

Very Respectfully,

Dave Leonard

Lieutenant Colonel, USA (Ret)
